chilly and santa rosa and nevada. is about 45 degrees in san jose. it will warm- up to low 70's. it will upper 7e coast. the north bay is expecting low 70's abou73 about 73 degrees for santa rosa. as we take a look at satellite we have been filling the warm front weekend. we will not get rain from this it would just usher and cool air. we do have rain in the forecast. >> holiday shopping season is well under way with more than $11 billion exchanging hands. for this is a positive economic. thousands of people packed into the downtown area not only to find bargains but to see the lighting of this tree. as we mentioned there is plenty of shopping bags to be seen family stocking up on clothes and electronics the nearby center opened at 5:00 a.m. on friday morning. one shopper stated that she has been planning for this day and it was worthwhile. shopping was great and it has been terrific. i am staying at st. francis so i can shop all day long. everybody has been really great and friendly. we found everything that we needed. >> there were plenty of shopping bags to be seen in humans

in the sierra nevada this morning with 0 in truck tee and 4 at the tahoe valley airport this morning. plenty of lows across the sacramento valley. the frost advisory has been lifted, allowed to expire. and locally back home you see it's pretty nice and sunny here. the average high this time of year in oakland is 64. we are shy of that. probably by tuesday there will be more seasonable temperatures around the bay. live temperature hd. a little fog was withnous the early morning hours but right now it's quiet out there. we will look for the winds to be more of a southerly component today. out ahead of the next cold front. we will show did you to you and see whether or not it will bring us rain. everyone has warmed up into the 40s. of course, that's relative. 50 half moon bay. many locations dropped into the 30s this morning from the coast to hollister and san jose. our east bay was even colder. we did manage numbers below freezing in our north bay valleys. but we are looking at a warmer night tonight, despite the chill this morning and 9 degrees of cooling compared to yesterday. the numbers go

and snowfall to the sierra nevada. so 21-mile-per-hour sustained wind speed nothing to joke about in oakland as you head over the bay bridge. you want to hold on to your steering wheel. could get caught by a stronger gust anywhere in the vicinity of 40 to 50 miles per hour as the system comes in. we've got a lot of instability in our atmosphere. right now it's still located over eureka. as we've been progressing throughout the morning you can see it head south. we're expecting our first showers from santa rosa to novato. getting a little activity at 1:00 p.m. at 3:00 p.m. starting to get our first action here in the south bay. so once the front does start to come in, we'll see on and off showers. showers will linger tomorrow morning making for a slippery commute. mike and i will guide you through it. then we get a little break for the first part of friday. another wave of moisture comes through as we head through friday evening and finally we'll clear you the out saturday morning. once the sky is clear late saturday into sunday our focus shifts to the potential for frost. it's going to be ve

and clear. temperatures are cold everywhere. 54 degrees in nevada. you're only at 46 in sonoma. 53 in livermore. you see spotty showers. this is mostly we're anticipating. we get warmer as the sun is out. we have one more batch of wet weather to get through as we head throughout the next couple of hours. this area will arrive in san francisco in 52 minutes. clouds will darken up and we'll get rain. it will move through quickly. highs today in the 50s. 57 in livermore, 56 in fremont and 57 degrees in redwood city. so it's time out what we're expecting in terms of showers. 5:00 p.m. still getting a little bit of lingering activity. we'll see a lot of improvement overnight. by tomorrow morning, 4:00 a.m., our last showers come through. we'll clear out of here completely at 9:00 a.m. saturday. then the cold arrives for sunday. i'm expecting widespread frost all across the bay area. look at the numbers. hard to believe. we were just in record territory in the forecasting lows in the low 30s, possibly the upper 20s in the coldest cities as we wake up on sunday. so you want to keep that i

, we have a winter weather advisory in place for the sierra nevada as snow levels tahoe area will fall to 2,500 feet. that is very low for this early in the season. slick conditions blowing snow, wind gusts, 40 to 60 miles per hour. if you're headed to tahoe this weekend, make sure you have your chains or four-wheel drive ready to go. as we are expecting icy conditions. 86 for today and quite the contrary today. 86 in livermore and 80 degrees in fremont and 80 degrees in los gatos and 80en sane front. here's those changes. tuesday 86 and by tomorrow we shave off 10 to 15 degrees and by thursday we fall back into the 50s and friday periods of rain early and that's when snow levels will really drop off. friday will be the coolest day of the week. only 57 degrees in places like livermore and then saturday into sunday, the sun comes back out, but take a couple days for that cold air to mix out of the bay area. we'll be at about 68, close to 70 on monday. but major changes ahead. we'll talk about which cities have the best chance of breaking records today. first, check your drive it's 5:49
